Breathe
Breathe
by Lindsay Gibson
There are moments in life when everything feels uncertain — when we’re about to step into new territory, speak words that matter, or face the quiet tremor of fear within us. In these moments, I remind myself of something simple yet profound: breathe.
To pause.
To soften.
To come home to myself.
When I breathe with awareness, I reconnect with something steady and unchanging beneath the noise of the mind. I turn inward and feel the rhythm of my breath — the rise and fall, the ebb and flow, the gentle whisper of life moving through me.
With each inhale, I feel expansion — a quiet invitation to receive. The breath fills every corner of my being, bringing with it a sense of openness and light. I linger for a moment at the top, sensing the spaciousness there — the stillness that exists even in motion.
Then, with each exhale, I release. I let go of tension, of holding, of the need to control. I surrender to the natural rhythm of release, and in that softening, I find peace. At the end of the exhale, there’s a pause — a sacred space between what was and what will be. In that pause, there is calm. There is presence. There is me.
Breathing this way reminds me that I am not separate from the world around me. I am part of a greater flow — the same rhythm that moves the tides, sways the trees, and beats within every heart. The breath is a bridge, connecting me to the stillness within and the wholeness of all life.
From this centered place, I can meet whatever arises — uncertainty, fear, excitement, or change — with steadiness and grace. The breath doesn’t remove life’s challenges, but it helps me meet them with an open heart. It reminds me that strength doesn’t always look like doing more; sometimes, it’s found in simply being still.
So when you find yourself feeling anxious, overwhelmed, or unsure — pause.
Close your eyes.
Place a hand on your heart.
And just breathe.
In that simple act, you’ll find your way back — to calm, to clarity, to connection.
To yourself.
