Connecting Back to Yourself
"Keep taking time for yourself until you are you again."
~Lala Delia
Life offers us countless moments to listen and learn, whether they are joyful, challenging, or painful. Each moment is an opportunity for growth, for transformation. When we approach life with an open heart and mind, we allow ourselves to evolve into the fullest expression of who we are meant to be.
But in that evolution, remember this: it’s not only okay to slow down and turn inward—it’s necessary. Rest isn’t a retreat; it’s a return to your essence.
One of the most powerful ways to come back to yourself is through the practice of meditation. So often, in the busyness of life, we forget to truly breathe. Yes, we breathe, but it’s shallow and shortened, especially when we are stressed, tired, or rushing through our days. The inhale is automatic, but the exhale—the release—gets lost.
Right now, let’s slow everything down and give our breath the time and space to expand, deepen, and nourish us. Begin by simply noticing your breath: follow it in, follow it out. No judgment, just presence.
We’ll now move into a Tonglen Meditation, an ancient Buddhist practice of giving and receiving—an exchange of energy that cultivates healing, love, and connection.
Take a deep breath in, and as you exhale, let go.
Inhale peace.
Exhale fatigue.
Inhale calm.
Exhale pressure.
Inhale gratitude.
Exhale suffering.
Inhale strength.
Exhale weakness.
Inhale courage.
Exhale fear.
Inhale love.
Exhale anger.
Inhale love.
Exhale love.
Allow yourself to rest here, floating in this space of presence and renewal for the next 10-15 minutes.
Remember, there are so many ways to reconnect with yourself and reclaim your power. Meditation is one of many tools in my toolkit, but it’s not the only one. Movement, like running or yoga, writing, cooking, reading, or practicing gratitude—these are all ways I come back to my heart.
What about you? What helps you connect back to yourself and show up as your most authentic, expansive self?
Sending you so much love,
Lindsay
