Grateful Fridays: Wonder Opens the Heart
A love note to yourself about returning to gratitude and noticing the quiet wonders of life.
It’s #GratefulFriday — a moment to pause, take a breath, and return to gratitude.
“I would maintain that thanks are the highest form of thought, and that gratitude is happiness doubled by wonder.”
— Gilbert K. Chesterton
Dear You,
Today is an invitation to return to gratitude.
Chesterton reminds us that gratitude is not simply a pleasant feeling—it is a way of seeing the world. When we pause long enough to notice the quiet gifts of our lives—the breath in our lungs, the warmth of the sun, the kindness of another person—we awaken a sense of wonder that might otherwise go unnoticed.
Gratitude does not require that everything in life be perfect. Instead, it reminds us that goodness still exists, even in the midst of challenge.
But gratitude is more than a thought. It is something we can feel.
When we allow ourselves to truly experience gratitude, something begins to shift within us. The stresses and craziness of our lives—and of the world around us—begin to slow down. We slow down. We step out of the constant movement of our thoughts and begin to soften our hearts.
From that softer place, something beautiful happens.
We begin to open ourselves to the goodness that already exists. We begin to notice the small wonders woven throughout our days—the quiet moments, the unexpected kindness, the simple gift of being alive.
In this way, gratitude expands our experience of happiness—not because more things appear in our lives, but because we begin to see more clearly what has always been there.
Wonder opens the heart.
And when the heart is open, gratitude flows naturally.
Today, allow yourself to pause long enough to notice the small wonders surrounding you.
With love.

A Moment for Reflection
Before you move on with your day, pause for a moment.
What is one thing—big or small—that you feel grateful for today?
Place your hand on your heart, take a slow breath, and allow yourself to fully feel that gratitude.
If you feel called, write a small love note to yourself. What does your heart need to hear today?
