The Power of the Pause
The Power of the Pause
Finding strength in stillness.
Pause.
Breathe.
Reconnect.
Repair.
Recharge.
Proceed.
We often associate strength with movement, with perseverance, with doing more. But true strength doesn’t always look like action. Sometimes, strength is choosing to slow down—to breathe, to be still, to come home to yourself.
When life feels heavy or uncertain, our instinct may be to push harder, keep producing, stay busy. But constant motion often pulls us away from our center. From the quiet, knowing voice within.
We've been taught that rest is indulgent, even selfish. That to be valuable, we must always be achieving.
But the truth is: self-care is not selfish. It’s sacred.
You cannot pour from an empty well. When you care for yourself, when you truly pause, you begin to return to presence—and from that presence, you can move through life with greater clarity, love, and intention.
The Wisdom of Stillness
Giving yourself permission to pause—even just for a few minutes—can be a radical act of self-respect. In that space, you begin to reconnect with your intuition, your heart, and your grounded power.
Stillness doesn’t mean doing nothing. It means listening.
It means remembering:
You are worthy of rest.
You are worthy of quiet.
You are worthy of your own breath.
At first, it might feel unfamiliar. But the more you practice returning to yourself, the more natural it becomes. You may begin to notice a softness. A lightness. A deep inner calm that was always there—waiting for you to arrive.
A Gentle Meditation: Tonglen Practice
Let’s take a few moments together now.
This is a simple Tonglen-inspired meditation—a practice of breath and loving awareness.
Begin by closing your eyes.
Take a long, slow, deep breath in…
And gently let it go.
Do it again—inhale deeply and fully…
Then exhale with softness.
Now, let your breath find its natural rhythm.
As you inhale, silently say to yourself: “Peace.”
As you exhale, silently say: “Love.”
Inhale: Peace
Exhale: Love
Continue breathing this way for several minutes—10, if you have them. Allow the breath to move through your body, carrying these intentions of softness and compassion into every corner of your being.
When you feel complete, sit quietly for just a little longer.
Notice how your heart feels.
Notice what has softened.
Let this peace linger.
You are held.
You are whole.
You are loved.
Have a beautiful and peaceful day.
With all my heart,
Lindsay
