The Feeling of Gratitude

Letting gratitude move through the heart, body, and nervous system

Let this land in your body before you read.

Gratitude is a deep appreciation for what we have—beyond anything monetary or measurable. It’s a warmth that rises in the body and flows into the heart, a felt sense of joy, thankfulness, and expansiveness that is both grounding and alive.

Gratitude isn’t just something we pause to notice; it’s something we feel. It’s a practice of allowing that feeling to move through us. Each morning, before my feet touch the floor, I ask myself: What am I grateful for? I don’t rush the answer or try to shape it. I let the feeling arrive first—then I stay with it.

When I allow myself to truly feel gratitude, my nervous system responds. My body softens. My breath deepens. There’s a subtle sense of safety and ease that spreads through my chest and into my being. This is presence—not something I think my way into, but something I experience from the inside out.

When life feels overwhelming, this embodied practice becomes an anchor. Rather than pulling me out of my experience, it gently draws me deeper into it—back into my heart, back into my body, back into this moment.

Over time, practicing gratitude in this way has shifted how I move through the world. When we allow ourselves to fully feel gratitude, our nervous system learns to recognize steadiness and connection. And from that place, we begin to notice the quiet magic woven into everyday moments—even the smallest, most unexpected ones.

So today, I invite you not just to pause, but to feel. Let gratitude move through your heart and your body. Allow yourself to be present with the sensation of being grateful—and notice how it meets you.

Much love,
Lindsay

May you feel the truth of this moment in your body, and let it gently guide you home.
