Coping with COVID

The Coronavirus has turned all our world’s upside down. We all respond to upheaval differently. Some of us are naturally more flexible and meet the challenge head on. While others feel scared, angry, sad, and shut down. Change is a natural part of life. Yet, all our lives have changed drastically.

What do you do when your world is turned upside down?

Accepting change can be challenging. The more we can be at peace amidst all that is going on in the world, the more easily we will be able to move through our day with greater grace and ease. When we accept and embrace the uncertainty, we become more connected to our hearts and can more easily face and transcend our fears.

“Change is never painful, only resistance to change.” ~The Buddha.

How do we stay steady during these uncertain times? There is an old saying that knowledge is power. However, in times like this I suggest staying informed by being mindful about your exposure to the flood of information coming at you from multiple platforms. Instead of keeping on the television or reading online, tune into one of my meditations and breathe.

Exercise is extremely important to promote calm and a general sense of wellbeing. Practice yoga at home, with me or any of our teachers at Majestic. Click Here. We have virtual yoga classes online, On Demand classes, FB LIVE practices, and videos on YouTube. Find some time every day to take a walk – being outside soothes the central nervous system, allows for deeper more mindful breathing, and creates opportunity to breathe clean air.

Eat well and, again, mindfully. Try to develop a balanced eating plan that includes 50-100 grams of protein per day, 10 servings of vegetables and lots of dark leafy greens, some carbs in the form of brown rice, sweet potatoes, quinoa, barley, spelt bread, and a touch of sugar in the form of 85-90% dark chocolate will help regulate your metabolism and have the added benefit of making you happy.

Stay in touch with loved ones, family, friends, and me. Try to remember we are all in this together and can each in our own ways provide support, guidance, information, and community.

I believe deep in my heart, the world is a beautiful place, a place filled with love and infinite possibilities, even now, even when we find ourselves suddenly standing on our heads. Keep on checking into our website and blog. I’ll be in touch!
