Grateful Friday: My Cup Runneth Over

Every Friday, I like to pause and reflect—and I’ve started calling it #GratefulFriday. But truthfully, gratitude is a practice I try to carry into every day. It’s a mindset, a lens through which we begin to see life differently.

The more we live from a space of gratitude, the fuller and richer life becomes. Gratitude doesn’t just shift our attitude—it shifts our energy. As my Scottish mother used to say, “My cup runneth over.” And lately, I’ve realized just how powerful those words are.

Gratitude can be found in the big moments: a goal achieved, a joyful celebration, a milestone reached. But it also lives in the quiet spaces—in a warm cup of tea, a kind smile from a stranger, a lesson learned the hard way, or a moment of peace in a hectic day.

I’ve learned that the more we focus on the good in our lives, the more good we begin to notice. It’s not magic—it’s energy. Energy flows where our attention goes. And when we choose to focus on the positive, we naturally start to create more of it.

Of course, life isn’t always easy. There are challenges, losses, and moments that stretch us in uncomfortable ways. But even in those seasons, there is always a silver lining—an opportunity to grow, or a moment of grace if we’re paying close enough attention. Sometimes, we just need to pause. Breathe. Look around. And truly appreciate all the good that’s already here.

I recently came across a photo of a small animal—maybe a squirrel or prairie dog—gently leaning into a vibrant flower, eyes closed, as if it were savoring that exact moment. And I thought: That’s it. That’s what life is about. Pausing long enough to really feel the joy in front of us.

So today, and every day, I invite you to do just that.
Pause. Reflect. Be grateful.

Because the more grateful you are, the more the Universe will send your way. And before you know it…
Your cup will be overflowing too.

With love,
Lindsay
