It's #GratefulFriday

Gratitude is a powerful tool to help us soften our hearts and allow more love to flow into our lives and out to others. And an amazing thing about gratitude is the more you cultivate it, the more grateful you become.

Dr. Robert Emmons did a research study looking at the well-being of participants who kept weekly accounts of what they were grateful for versus those who kept lists of things that irritated them. What he found was the people who practiced gratitude were happier and improved their wellbeing. He concluded “a conscious focus on blessings may have emotional and interpersonal benefits.”

If you practice gratitude on a daily basis, you will more easily be able to shift your mindset when you are stressed or overwhelmed with life. It doesn't take long. The important thing is to try it and begin cultivate it. Over time you will find that you can pause for a moment when you are stressed and bring up a feeling. It is just like muscle memory, it just takes practice.

Let's practice gratitude now using the Sanskrit Mantra Dhanya Vad: I feel gratitude.{dahn-yah vahd}

When I'm grateful, I find grace. By looking for the blessings in my life, I open up a space of light in every experience; I open up the path for grace to flow. I make room in the middle of everything for gratitude. Repeat it out loud 3 times, then whisper it 3 times, and then repeat it silently to yourself. Feel the mantra flow into your heart and feel it flow back out.

When you feel stressed, practice breathing into your blessings until you're so full of gratitude that there's no room for anything else.

Much Love,

Lindsay
