When you're feeling down or troubled, a different perspective can help you to shift your mindset and to turn things around. It can help you to see the beauty in your life, even if it is just a glimpse.

Try pausing and feeling gratitude for the simple things that you take for granted that can bring you so much joy. By slowing down enough to notice and appreciate them, you can begin to find joy in the moment - the coffee you are drinking this morning, the gift of a friendship, the musical notes of a song on the radio. Or do something to help shift your mindset into one of gratitude - when you walk to work this morning, take a different route that has more trees, stream your favorite song and dance to it. Go for a walk in the woods and listen to all of the birds. Sit and chant the Sanskrit Mantra "Yum," which is the vibration of the heart chakre. Chant it outloud for 5 - 10 minutes.

When you direct your mind toward calm waters, life will sail more smoothly. If you have an unpleasant feeling, simply acknowledge it, then move on to more fulfilling ideas. Don't give power to negativity. Remember that gratitude is a song of the heart waiting for you to listen to it's notes.
