Savoring Summer’s Gifts
"Summer has a flavor like no other. Always fresh and simmered in sunshine." ~ Oprah Winfrey
Dear friends,
Summer feels like a gift from Mother Nature herself — wrapped in blue skies, tied with golden light, and delivered with a smile. She fills our days with flowers, fruits, and vegetables, as if to say, “Here… taste the sunshine.”
Whether you have a balcony garden, a sprawling yard, or simply a local market to visit, there’s magic in noticing and savoring what’s fresh right now.
Here are a few ways I’m welcoming the season:
Step Outside – I take time for a slow walk, listening to the wind, feeling the warmth on my skin. Sometimes I even stroll in the rain, remembering what it felt like to splash barefoot through puddles as a child.
See with New Eyes – I pretend I’m meeting a sunflower for the very first time, catching the scent of lavender, or tasting a blueberry straight from the bush.
Taste the Season – I love bringing home cherry tomatoes for sauce, and this year I’m canning bread-and-butter pickles so I can open a jar of summer in the middle of winter.
Share the Bloom – A handful of flowers for a friend never fails to bring joy — and joy is wonderfully contagious.
Count Your Summer Blessings – Longer days, the sound of cicadas, the cool relief of shade, laughter with friends over melting ice cream.
This summer, may our hearts be as full as our baskets.
Much Love,
Lindsay
