Gratitude is available to you in each and every moment, no matter the circumstances. It is a feeling that bubbles up from deep within. It is not only an emotional response, it is a choice you can make. You can choose to be grateful for a situation or you can choose to be ungrateful. By making the choice to be grateful, you can shift your mindset instantly from a place of darkness or sadness to a place of peace and calm and bring more joy and happiness into your heart.

Gratitude is a heart quality that each one of us has within us. To connect to it, it takes a little slowing down and turning inward. Let's try it now by meditating using the mantra Kritajna Hum {krit-ah-nah hum} , which means I am gratitude. My true self is always grateful. I am connected with everything else in the universe. Gratitude is the beacon that guides me to that place where meaning, truth, and love exists. Start by repeating the mantra out loud three times, whispering it three times, and then silently repeating it to yourself over and over. Feel the vibration flow into your heart. Try to stay here for 10 - 20 minutes. Before you open your eyes, take a few moments and feel the peace and happiness within.

Gratitude connects you to the joy that's hidden in plain view, patiently waiting to be seen. By practicing gratitude regularly, it helps to keep your heart more open even on the darkest of days.
