The People Who Protect Us

A Grateful Friday reflection on the people who see what we need before we do

#GratefulFriday 🤍

Gratitude is available to us in each and every moment, no matter the circumstances.

It is a feeling that bubbles up from deep within, and it is also a choice we can return to, gently, again and again. Even the smallest turn toward gratitude can soften a heavy moment, creating a little more space for peace, joy, and calm.

This week, I sat with a woman who is helping me navigate a big next step in my life. At one point in our conversation, she was kind but firm with me about something I had been putting off.

And in that moment, something shifted.

I realized that her firmness came from a place of genuine care. She was looking out for me, protecting me in a way I hadn’t fully recognized until then.

I left our meeting with my heart overflowing with gratitude. Not simply for her guidance, but for the people who care enough to tell us what we need to hear, who stand beside us through uncertainty, and who sometimes see what we need before we can see it ourselves.

Gratitude is a quality of the heart that lives within each of us. We don’t have to search far to find it. Sometimes all it takes is slowing down long enough to recognize what has been there all along.

So today, I invite you to pause.

Take a breath. Soften your heart. Think of one person who has shown up for you, perhaps in a way you didn’t fully appreciate at the time.

And let yourself feel grateful.

Because gratitude doesn’t mean that everything in life is easy or that our challenges disappear. It simply reminds us that even in difficult moments, there is goodness, kindness, and love quietly surrounding us.

Gratitude connects us to the joy hidden in plain sight, patiently waiting to be noticed.

Much Love,
Lindsay 🤍
